The Orlando-based AirTran has been operating charter flights to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic from other cities in the United States, but it plans to operate regularly scheduled flights to Punta Cana from Atlanta.
The carrier is seeking approval from the U.S. Department of Transportation to fly the route as little as twice weekly or as often as daily, depending on the time of year. AirTrans feels that it is experienced enough in regulatory agencies and operations in Punta Cana in order to take on this new route. The new route would be part of its expansion in the Caribbean, where it also flies to Montego Bay, Aruba and Nassau.
Start with a setting high on a cliff overlooking the Caribbean Sea and add the skills of the sculpture of the earth by Tom Fazio, and you’re almost guaranteed a trophy to be convincing. Coral does not disappoint. With six holes along the water – including the closure of three – new design of Punta Cana Resort has become a must-play since its opening in April.
Accessible only to customers in Punta Cana and the residents of the community (as a designer Oscar de la Renta and Julio Iglesias singing), Coral is a beautiful beast. Buffeted by winds from the coast, the wide distribution is a pure pleasure to watch from beginning to end, with the ground is covered with ponds, coconut trees, stretches of sand bunkers and a series of elegant Fazio. Most memorable, however, is the way of the finishing holes, commonly called “The Devil’s Elbow” (Devil’s Elbow). Muscle heads 16th 461-yard directly into the sea, while the edges 214-yard 17th that. But the Showstopper is the 18 448-yard, whose new unlisted T can be extended to 501 meters. This marvel boomerang to the right around a pit that falls to the surf. He is a demon, you will be happy to dance all weather conditions.

Located on the Dominican Republic’s eastern coast, Puntacana Resort & Club offers the ultimate in luxury, service and adventure. From the Puntacan Hotel or the exclusive Tortuga Bay, a secluded enclave with impeccable service and decor designed by Oscar de la Renta, travelers will find an array of amenities sure to satisfy even the most discriminating tastes.
